TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) –The Toledo School for the Arts has been getting a lot of positive recognition lately in a lot of different areas.
The downtown charter school has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification.
The certification signifies that the building ranks in the top 25 percent of similar facilities in the nation for energy efficiency and that it meets the strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.
Olaf Gerhardt, the building manager at the school says that in addition to the demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship the school has also lowered its energy costs.
Buildings with the ENERGY STAR certification use an average of 35 percent less energy and release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than typical buildings.
The school has also received a clean audit report from the Auditor of State’s office earning it the Auditor of State Award.
The award recognizes timely, efficient and accurate financial record keeping and reporting.
Finally, the school was recently designated a 2015-2017 Exemplary School by Arts Schools Network, the nation’s largest professional membership organization of specialized arts schools.
