Jackie Collins 2-12-13

I believe in the value of arts education to inspire our students to be more creative problem solvers and develop a passion for learning and expression. I've personally seen the arts revive students’ engagement in their education and it encourages them to further their schooling. Our school is part of the Arts Schools Network because it allows us to connect with other schools across the nation that also value arts education. These schools enable Idaho Arts Charter to grow as they share their best practices and new ideas. I serve on the Arts School Network Board of Directors to help continue to strengthen our voice as arts educators and to bring the experience of a K-12 arts based school to the mix.

Halley Shefler 2-12-13

I believe deeply in the mission of the Arts Schools Network and am honored to serve on the Board of Directors. Everyday I strive to find the perfect match for my clients, from high school to college and beyond, and to connect to the worlds of artists. A strong advocate of access to the arts by and of all makes me a perfect fit for this Board. My Committee, College and Career, puts the high schools with the strongest arts programs together with the colleges, and my contacts, networking skills and dedication intersect beautifully with all we are trying to do. I want all involved in any way in the arts to be part of ASN because there is no better organization so focused on progress, moving forward and passion for the Arts in America.

As the leader of one of the founding schools of ASN, we at Duke Ellington School of the Arts recognized from the very beginning just how important it is for arts leaders to network and exchange ideas, best practices, and resolutions to challenges that we uniquely face as art schools. Being on the ASN Board allows me to continue serving in a leadership capacity with fellow colleagues I admire and respect in our quest to promote excellence in arts education

Valerie Morris 2-12-13 428x640

Representing a school of the arts at a liberal arts college with a strong commitment to conservatory-level training, we at the College of Charleston are always in search of talented arts students who might be seeking a broad liberal arts experience in addition to excelling in their particular art form. To my mind, the Arts Schools Network represents the schools which graduate the very students we are trying to reach. It is an honor to serve on the Board, along with many of the nation’s top arts principals, counselors and administrators, and with representatives from the most prestigious of our nation’s arts training conservatories. Through my association with the Arts Schools Network, I have been able to participate in important policy discussions concerning the education, careers and future development of our next generation of artists. The Arts Schools Network provides a vital service to both the arts and the education communities.

Valerie Morris, Dean, School of the Arts
College of Charleston
